The 2016 Spring Get Sponsored Winner Is...

By Matt Stallknecht, POINT 3 Basketball

Last year, we launched our first ever “Get Sponsored” contest, a national sweepstakes in which we outfitted and promoted a randomly chosen youth basketball team from hundreds of applicants around the country. The promotion ended up being a major success, as we crowned two “Get Sponsored” winners: Orlando Team Jayhawks in the spring, and Miles Davis Academy from Chicago in the fall.

We ran our third “Get Sponsored” contest this past month, and once again, we were blown away by the response to the contest, as this edition attracted more than 1,000 entrants! Out of those entrants, one team was left standing once the music stopped, and we can’t wait to show them off!

So, without further ado, allow us to introduce you to the Spring 2016 “Get Sponsored” contest winner….

Ohio Crossover Got Sponsored!

About Ohio Crossover Basketball Program

Ohio Crossover is a youth basketball program from Cincinnati, OH. Coach Brian Callahan, who has been with the team for all 7 years of its existence, is always trying to get his team and players more exposure, and even tried entering the spring 2015 “Get Sponsored” contest in hopes of raising his program’s profile. So as one can imagine, Coach Callahan was pumped when he found out his squad Got Sponsored!

“I was overjoyed and in total disbelief when I found out that we won,” said Callahan. “We tried to enter the contest last year but we were too late, so when we found out we won this year, we couldn’t believe it… this is huge for us.”

Callahan’s Ohio Crossover squad competes in the 11th-grade category, and as such, players come to Ohio Crossover with hopes of getting noticed by college teams. However, as Coach Callahan is quick to point out, the team’s overall goal is to not just to develop their player’s basketball skills, he wants to train them for life as well.

“Obviously, helping these kids improve their game for the next level is a huge part of what we do,” said Coach Callahan. “But more importantly, I want to help prepare these kids for life. Whether they play basketball after 11th grade or not, our goal is to make sure our players come away from this experience as better overall people. That is the most rewarding part of what we do.”

Callahan and Ohio Crossover are still in the process of building their 2016 roster, but no matter how the team is built, the squad figures to have high expectations heading into the season. Ohio Crossover has been nationally ranked two out of the past three years, and has played in tournaments all across the Midwest and Southeast. They appear to be a formidable squad that has serious motivation to perform this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited to outfit the program and tell their story to all of our followers.
